Someone again dumped their 2012 Christmas tree (not to be confused with the 2011 tree in the first photo above) in the middle of the ballfield common ground and we all paid for it's proper disposal. Another sad example of an inconsiderate individual whose irresponsible actions cost all VOJ residents. Not just in terms of the maintenance personnel having to remove their trash but as to how little they care about the appearance of our community, which affects everyone's property values and quality of living here in the Village.
While this particular person has obvious little regard for themselves, where they live or their neighbors property values, disposing of the family tree, yard debris or other waste has been noted elsewhere on common ground areas. Some people think nothing of throwing their yard waste and other debris over their backyard fence or dumping it into the wooded areas, then forget about it. These actions are irresponsible and will not be tolerated. Cameras are everywhere these days. If caught, you will be charged for the cleanup as well as cited for illegal dumping.
For the sake of our subdivision and the caring residents who reside here, properly dispose of your trash like everyone else. Take it to a dump, recycling station or other landfill... whatever, but ...
DO NOT USE THE VILLAGE COMMON GROUND AS YOUR PERSONAL DUMPING SPACE!
Also, the dumpster located at the main ballfield area is for maintenance personnel use only and not for general resident's use.
To those who use VOJ common grounds as a personal dumping ground: Have a little more pride, if not in yourself, at least in where you live. Nobody wants to see your trash littering our community or pay for your laziness.
Did you know Jefferson County has a public nuisance law?
It's called "Section 200.010: Jefferson County, Missouri, Public Nuisance Ordinance" and covers many of the things found in the VOJ Book of Indentures. Not only derelict vehicles including boats, trailers, construction equipment and motorcycles are addressed but also yard waste, rubbish, scrap metal, derelict lawn equipment, appliances, furniture, tires and more are covered. As serious consequences can result, it is in the best interest of all VOJ residents to fully read this ordinance making sure you are in compliance. For your convenience, a copy of this law can be read by clicking below.

"No Soliciting" signs are posted for your benefit and safety
Lately there have been a number of companies targeting our community in hopes of selling residents everything from new roofs to pest control to concrete work. A community our size represents a potential gold mine for easy pickings to them. They'll knock on your door saying they're currently doing one or more jobs in the subdivision and can offer you a great deal if you sign with them while they're here. Whether the "deal" is real or not, you won't know without doing some checking around for yourself first. How can you tell if the pest control guy is spraying odorless pesticide or just lightly colored water? Can you really be assured the roofer is bonded and insured just because he says so? What grade of concrete will you get for the money and what about the permits needed, not to mention the required Architectural Control Form?
Most legitimate companies will respect no soliciting signs while the fly-by-nights try to capitalize on getting your business with their "deals." You may think you're saving half or even more but unless you do your homework, you may find you were taken. There's an old saying that still applies today, "The quality of a job is remembered long after the price has been forgotten."
If faced with any solicitor at your door, don't invite them in! Ask for their company identification or business card, then inform them there's no soliciting in our subdivision and they are not welcome. Call the office with their information and we'll inform the company they cannot be soliciting on the premises. If they persist, they will be arrested for trespassing.
Again, never allow a solicitor in your home! Not only is it personally unsafe to do so but they could just be taking a look around to see if what you have is worth coming back for when you're not home. Don't let the lure of a supposedly great deal make you let your guard down.
